Last Cup of Tea

sipping his last cup of tea
funeral visitors left theirs
untouched

The 'cold ones' haiku

snow white skinned
in the dark winter night
are you an angel?

the cold ones
so deep, so mysterious
can you read my mind?

Little Ms. UN 2009

This is my daughter Shea Leigh and was chosen by her class to represents the country of South Korea during their UN celebration in school last Nov. 6, 2009. It was a competition and my daughter won as Little Ms. UN 2009. Here are some of her pics taken with her partner, Allen Gabor. I know that she had a wonderful time that day and I'm sure proud of her!

Spring Haiku

tractor in the field
robin and her nestlings
sing with the noise

mama collects milk
from the mooing cow
on spring morn

with the robins singing
under a tree
I wrote my haiku

such joy
cherry blossom blooms
outside our classroom

A Season For Everything

SUMMER

wet bedsheet
from summer heat
or sudden pain?

throbbing pain
I change my turtleneck shirt
lump on my neck

sudden high fever
in mid summer noon
mom panics

early to bed
early to rise
still forsaken tired

sleepless nights
start to talk with me
in bed

FALL

after my appointment
outside the clinic
a maple leaf pats me

diagnosed at last
on my way home
withered leaves lead me

a crow flies above
the almost bare tree
premonition

full moon, night's deep
still wide awake from
the doctor's news

starched white sheet
covers now my sickbed
night falls early

WINTER

freezing white petals
start to pour in
glad my sickbed's warm

poems in my mind
while the snow falls
my meds kicking in

one winter night
on my sickbed I opened
my black album

on my sickbed
sound of rattling bottles of pills
and murmured prayers

the doctor comes in
new meds, strong ones
a snowstorm starts

SPRING

frankly I've been told
'no more cure, dear'
I sigh

in spring time
everything comes alive
except for me

smell of carnation
am I now laying on my
deathbed?

a sparrow sings
a song so sad
it's more like a lament

doctors gave up
my files now buried
in their memories

My Kids

i was browsing my files last night and saw these pics of my kids, Shea Leigh and Jibrill Shaun which were taken last year. These were taken in our garage and living room.

The Champions

last November 29 was our championship game in volleyball. It was not an easy game. We had no substitute players. I was burning with fever on that day but I still gave my best for the team. Though it was a close fight, the other team and our team were still good friends. We all hugged each other when the game was done. It was one of the happiest days of my life. At the end, I was the highest pointer player.

My Daughter's 8th Birthday

last November 22 my eldest turned eight. She had a wonderful time though she still misses her dad so much. I cooked some spaghetti and fried chicken and bought her a Disney princess cake. Here are some of her pics I took with her brother, Jibrill Shaun, who just can't wait for the cake!

Another Rainy Day...

For two days now I've been experiencing bloody stool again and I mean a lot of it. I will undergo another test as usual. But before this happened I've been having dreams of my grandpa. He was talking, laughing and hugging me. Then, this dreadful thing comes next. I guess grandpa was trying to say that he was just around, looking down at me from heaven...

you in my dreams
holding me
never leaving me

Wedding Day

Yesterday was my cousin's wedding day. It was such a lovely wedding. My daughter was one of the flower girls and she sure had a wonderful time. Everyone was there except for grandpa who's for sure smiling down on us from heaven...
